i’m with molly. and i’m putting a 10 month time limit on it…okay, more like a year, but still. maybe 3of3 could have a little conversation with isobel, rough her up a bit, if necessary. whatever it takes.
So where did you hide the thing the battery belongs to? Hmmm???
My son moved directly from his crib to my bed. I have an unused toddler bed that has served many purposes:
- Cat Bed
- Stuffed Animal Bed
- Room decoration in a one bedroom apartment because we need more stuff cluttering it up and why don’t I just get rid of it already because he’s obviously getting too big for it anyway. *deep breath*
Yup, we’ve managed to put it to good use. I tell you what, that’s the best lookin’ cat bed I’ve ever seen.
Excuse my tangent. I’m having a bit of a problem with umm, what is it? OH, FOCUS today.
My 2 1/2 yo is still in her crib, but I have no intentions of getting her out any time soon. She loves it, she has no idea that getting out of it by herself is an option, so why mess with a good thing? And it keeps her caged in from the moment she goes to bed, until the moment she wakes. I am so afraid the big girl bed will only mean even more complete CHAOS at bedtime. She may be in this bed when she starts Kindergarten. I really don’t care. LOL.
But I did have to laugh at the Barbies, my daughter also has a bunch of naked ones in her bed as well.
ooh! Girly bedding! I have total envy on that one–nothing but monster trucks and spider man on the horizon for me…unless I want my little one’s ass kicked in pre-school…which is what hubs tells me about all of the baby blue and mint green.
ps–glad to know i am not the only girl with popcorn on her nightstand.
Love Wired too. Only thing on my nightstand is a lamp, clock, photos, an occasional book or two and lots of dust. Never seem to get around to dusting the bedroom that often.
Yep, at about 16 months old Son was crying hard *in his crib*, and it was getting louder and louder, so I went to check on him — and found out that it was getting louder because he was walking down the stairs. Alone. IN THE DARK. Crying. So I put him back in his crib. and… REPEAT.
So we pulled the crib mattress out and made him sleep on the floor till we could get him a twin bed.
Daughter, at about the same age: crying, crying, crying, then THUD!!! There aren’t big enough capital letters in the universe to describe the sound. I raced upstairs to find her flat on her back outside the crib, stunned silent, then screaming. She, apparently, is a quick study. She’s never tried to escape again, and she turns two in two weeks.
I am thinking it probably won’t work as a curfew-keeping-device when she’s 15, but I’m gonna’ stick with that crib as long as I can. I remember what happens when you let them have their own beds, even if you don’t: they REFUSE TO STAY IN THEM at bedtime, and then they wake up and come creeping into yours at all hours of the night. So, you might want to wait on the frilly sheets for a while. That is, if you want to be able to sleep again this year. :)
Nick was walking by 8 months, so at 14 months, we transitioned him from his crib to a toddler bed. He slept in it one night. The next day – he refused to go near it. For months! Had to put his crib back in his room again.
By 2, he was sleeping in the toddler bed. At 3, we bought him a full-sized mattress – and he’s been in it ever since. We planned ahead on that one. The mattress came with a 15-year guarantee. Nick was 3. Add it up – and at 18, time to replace the mattress. Coincidentally, time to kick him out of the nest, too. Convenient, yes?
My MIL was all excited today to show me that TLP would kind of crawl if you poked her and moved her knees for her *eyeroll*. I wanted to scream….NOOOOO…she’s a bayyyybeeeeeee!!
We have one of those converter cribs too – it’s now a very lovely day bed and soon to be grown out of. (Because my daughter? Is part fish and squirms all night.)
But I know! It can be four different types of furniture! Realistically, I *know* my girl will NOT be going off to college with her crib-as-double-headboard, but isn’t it nice to think it would last that long?
actually, i was doing it on the 5th…i know this because it was the night of my best friends wedding AND it was the last time the ex and i did it!! but…how funny!!!!!!!!!
xoxo
Lily was almost 9 months when she made it into the big girl bed. She was expert at swinging her leg up and over the cot side and shimmying herself up and over the top.
All my others were on their way to two.
*Sigh* all our cots are packed away in the garage now.
Just wait. First thing you know, you’ll blink, and then you’ll be buying her a big girl bed, FOR COLLEGE. And then she’ll be calling you saying her BIG, FAT-ASSED BOYFRIEND broke her bed. And you’re all “What the fuck is he doing in your bed?” Cause, yeah, you’re STUPID like that… And by you, I mean me.
As for the big girl bed. Congrats. I live in fear of that in this house because my little girl will never sleep again if she’s in a big girl bed and not caged in her crib. lol
Not sure who I’ve gone through to find you, but I LOVE you! (Okay, your writting and wittiness, cause let’s be honest, I don’t know you from Adam!)
My third child, a girl, was also getting out of her crib by by 8 months. Freaked me out cause I woke up one night KNOWING someone was looking at me. I thought one of the boys got her out. I put her back in her bed, and by the time I was settled back in MY bed, she was standing there again. I never had toddler beds either. But my first child? He wouldn’t climb out, he would just stand there and SCREAM at the top of his lungs until I got him out.
Ayden is totally in a big boy bed since 19 months old when his pesky brother just had to be born and kick him outta his crib (which makes into a toddler bed which is also useless when you have 2 that close together).
So we bought a toddler bed and another mattress.
Because we have midgets and apparently they will fit in them until they are 25. :)
