South African Barbie is made with the old head mold before Mattel up-sized it to be more Bratz-like. I had not seen the thong phenomenon, but since it is a thong in front and back, I think it has more to do with the hip joints than underwear choice. Perhaps they changed the hips so Barbie can do more than just scissor kicks these days. I know they made some in the 90's that could do gymnastics moves. I definitely like the more natural make-up of South African Barbie. I blame the Bratz for causing Mattel to trampify Barbie. On the plus side though, U.S. Barbies have thicker waist lines and smaller breasts these days. They no longer have Pam Anderson proportions. I know lots of moms hate Barbie, but I will always be a Barbie lover. Baby dolls only allow you to play "mommy." Barbie lets you play doctor, teacher, dancer, equestrian rider, etc. It's good to know that internationally, Barbie hasn't undergone the ghetto transformation that is popular here in the U.S.

SOOOO glad I just have 300 hotwheels cars in my living room, dining room, couch, dryer, under the stove, in the houseplants, inside the toilet paper rolls... well, you get the point.
Barbie is creepy. Also? she used to have real nylon panties, not some BDSM plastic thong. I miss the eighties.
