My Mom would have been quite pleased if my first hamster had died quickly. She (the hamster) actually lived it's full three-year lifespan. Despite two trips down the basement stairs in the hamster ball. ;-)

OH MY LORD. You seriously need mice instead. They're indestructible. Not those yukky little white ones with red eyes, but sweet little brown ones or something. Also, they're cheap. And no one takes them to the vet. Just a thought.
