For thirty years I traveled through this world in a haze. I was out of balance, life was a mere blur that passed before my eyes. And then a little girl came into my life, and I realized that I had to take care of myself if I was going to be a good role model to her. I stopped making excuses and fixed something in my life that desperately needed attention, found the one thing that I thought could bring focus to my life. And that same girl, who inspired this in me, stole my fake plastic clarity today.

I worry about this every day, and we've had some very close calls-- I can completely sympathize. I should probably go ahead and buy a backup pair right now, just so I have it ready for when this inevitably happens to me.

great 10 words. i would die and probably one of my kids would also if my glasses got broken. actually my daughter did break one of the pairs that i have.. but lucky for her ass i had a second pair... little turd. I do need some new specs though so maybe this is a good idea... have the kiddies break em on me... then get some new ones. :) yah!!

I'm sure I bored you ages ago with how I founded 100 Words or Les Nessman, with Michele from A Small Victory, way back in the day (oh, 2005 or so). Each day one of us had to post some inspiration for a 100 word bit of sudden fiction, be it a picture, quote, song, whatever...
Nevermind why I left, but I did keep my 100 word stories, so if you don't mind, and since I've had a few beers, allow me to share:
It's ugly early when the alarm bell rings. I'd ignore it, sleep in, but there'll be hell to pay if I'm not out the door in five.
Every street's the same, shiny and clean, lined with mansions full of beautiful people. I find the address, walk to the door, and knock with faux good cheer.
It opens and there's this blue-eyed cherub of a kid standing there. He sees the box and bounces on his toes.
"Here are your wings," I say, shoving it into his arms. "Tell that George Bailey to kiss my ass. I'm going back to bed."
