While I'm thinking about Iraq, I thought I'd share an email my sister-in-law-received from my brother-in-law.

Well, so I ended up in Iraq. It has been quite the experience. I have gone through a lot that I could have done without, and seen more than my share of death and carnage. I am stationed at a Forward Operating Base in Fallujah. We train the Iraqi Police and screen police applicants, as well as do station checks at the police departments.

There are days that I wonder why I am here, but much of that is cleared up when I listen to an Iraqi policeman tell me that he will never give up fighting the terrorists, because he is now free, something he never was under Sadaam Hussein.

This place has definitely changed me, but I have been drawn closer to the Lord, which I am truly grateful for.

I hope to here from you soon

God Bless and Love

Pete is a police officer in Oregon. He is around 40 years old. He has a lovely new wife (making him my ex-brother-in-law) who has children. They are very happy.

He felt compelled to go serve in this war. He is serving as a policeman in Iraq. Voluntarily.

He is a hero.
